Growing Your Business Future with Sustainable Fuels
Kenyan leaders in renewable biomass fuel production — transforming agricultural waste into clean, affordable energy since 2016.
Our Story
From a single spark to a sustainable future
It was a typical afternoon in January 2016 when our founder, Chirag Amin, visited a manufacturing plant in Nairobi. What struck him wasn't the machinery or the scale of operations, but the sheer amount of freshly cut firewood stacked in their yard. Being in the Energy field for over 10 years, he truly felt the need for a better solution — it was like stumbling upon a vast graveyard of fallen trees, each log a silent reminder of the forests being stripped away to fuel industries.
That moment was his turning point. Continuing down the path of deforestation or fossil fuel dependence wasn't an option. By December 2016, Iko Briq was born with a production facility capable of producing 300 tonnes of high-quality briquettes each month, made from biomass waste like sawdust and bagasse.
Our Purpose
At Iko Briq, our purpose is rooted in sustainability and resource conservation. We transform agricultural biomass waste — materials like sawdust, bagasse, and other organic by-products — into high-quality briquettes and pellets that serve as cleaner, renewable fuel alternatives.
By diverting waste from landfills and reducing the need for fossil fuels and firewood, we provide a solution that addresses critical environmental challenges while offering affordable energy options for both industrial processes and households.
What Drives Us
We're driven by a vision where waste is no longer wasted. Every day, we see the potential in discarded biomass that would otherwise contribute to pollution or deforestation. We're committed to changing the narrative — turning what's seen as agricultural waste into something valuable.
Our work allows industries to operate more sustainably and gives communities access to clean energy, all while sparing forests for more critical applications such as affordable housing and furniture manufacturing.
Our Impact
Since we began operations, Iko Briq has processed over 6,000 tonnes of waste biomass, turning it into clean, efficient fuel.
How We Work
We take a practical, innovative approach to solving energy challenges — from sourcing raw materials to delivering finished fuel products.
Source
We collect agricultural by-products — sawdust, bagasse, and other residues — that would otherwise be considered waste.
Process
These materials are processed using specialized equipment including our RUF Briquetting Machine to create high-efficiency briquettes and pellets.
Deliver
Our fuel products are designed to meet the energy needs of industries and households — cleaner, cost-effective, and environmentally responsible.
Supporting Global Goals
Our work directly supports key United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
